WELCOME to the web pages of the Australian
Mining History Association (AMHA). Our organization was founded
and incorporated in 1995. The impetus for formation of the Association
came from those attending the International Mining History Conference
at Golden, Colorado, in 1994, who realised that it was time to
form an organisation that catered for mining historians in Australia.
It was also felt that there were people present who would welcome
the opportunity to keep in touch and to meet in-between the four-year
intervals that divided the International meetings. Subsequently,
the void was filled and we have steadily built up our membership
to over 180, with a scattering of international representatives
among that number.
To date our activities have involved the publication of quarterly
newsletters, the running of 14 national conferences, the publication
of a 340 page Bibliography of the mining history of Australia
and Papua New Guinea (now on CD) and and in addition publication
of Conference Proceedings, and six volumes of the Journal of
Australasian Mining History.
